Marathon & Half-Marathon Training

Building Up Your MilesAnybody who wants to complete a marathon this fall should be running now and you should have been running for the last year. Coming into the training, you should be running 15 or more miles each week and your long runs should be at 8-10 miles each week.The half marathon training is a little bit different. You should be able to run five miles with no issues and you should be a regular runner. Your program begins 12 weeks before your race and you are invited to begin up to 16 weeks before your race.We have some pre-training group runs scheduled for May and June.
Your Marathon and Half-Marathon TrainingCharleston Runs training is always personal. That’s why we can offer to let you begin at different points. Coach Greg wants to know you as a runner and a person and wants to match your goals, fitness level, and lifestyle to your training program. Every runner in the program follows a very similar program but it is truly customized for your ability. Training for the Marathon is $190 and the half-marathon plan is $145.
What Can I Expect if I Enroll?
Group runs take place in Mt Pleasant from St. Andrew’s Church (440 Whilden Street) on Saturdays. Group runs begin at 6 am through October. Many Charleston Runs athletes get together during the week on their own. Once each week, depending on interest, Coach Greg can be found at the Mt Pleasant track for some additional group training.
- A monthly training plan that continues until 2 weeks after your race.
- Unlimited email support
- Supported Saturday group runs beginning July 18 and continuing until December 5. This means there will be a non-runner driving the route and checking on your progress. The driver carries water and a cooler. Coach Greg will be either driving the route or running or racing with the group every Saturday.
- Weekly group email with hints and tips for training for your race.
How Do I Enroll in Marathon or Half-Marathon Training?

However, the decision to drop the training is always the runner’s decision and for this reason we do not offer any refunds once you receive your first training schedule.
